A NOTE ON BAT GRADING
Understanding Our Grading System
Cricket bat grades are primarily based on the visual appearance and characteristics of the willow, including grain structure, natural markings, colour, blemishes and overall aesthetics.
While higher grades generally feature cleaner and more visually desirable willow, a higher grade does not automatically guarantee that an individual bat will perform better than a lower grade.
Willow is a natural material, and every cleft is different. Performance can be influenced by numerous factors, including the individual piece of willow, pressing, profile, weight distribution, balance, pickup and preparation.
At Boundary X, we focus on selecting bats that offer excellent performance across every grade. Our grading system allows players to choose the level of willow, appearance and price point that best suits their individual needs and budget.
Please note: Grain count alone does not determine the quality or performance of a cricket bat. Multiple characteristics must be considered when assessing each individual piece of English willow.
